AAO-HNS StorePediatric Otolaryngology
All board-certified otolaryngologists have been trained to care for pediatric patients. Pediatric otolaryngology is a subspecialty within otolaryngology—head and neck surgery that exists to provide care of infants and children with unusual otolaryngological –head and neck disorders at a tertiary or full service pediatric facility. The current standard of training requires a formal fellowship at a tertiary care pediatric facility in laryngotracheal reconstruction, congenital airway anomalies, or-facial anomalies, speech and voice disorders, head and neck, and diagnosis and treatment of hearing loss. Pediatric otolaryngology is a subspecialty recognized and accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), the American Hospital Association (AHA), the American Medical Association (AMA), the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), and the Council of Medical Specialty Societies (CMSS).
