Head and Neck Surgery

To become board certified, an otolaryngologist has to complete a rigorous training program. Following one year training in general surgery, an additional four years residency training in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery is required in order to be considered eligible to apply to sit for the specialty board examination in Otolaryngology. During the training years, residents in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery should learn to manage the full spectrum of benign and malignant disorders involving the head and neck while also learning techniques of facial plastic and reconstructive surgery.
